The Mint Museum consists of two separate buildings, located in different areas of Charlotte. The first building is called Mint Museum Uptown and the second is called Mint Museum Randolph. The construction of the original museum was completed in 1936, but at that time only 20 exhibits were on display. Now there are more than 18,000 objects for visitors to discover, including some pottery pieces which date back 4,500 years. Another very impressive collection consists of Renaissance paintings. The opening hours are variable, but if you visit between 1pm and 5pm on any day of the week it's guaranteed that the museum will be open.
UNCC Botanical Gardens
The UNCC Botanical Gardens are located near the University of North Carolina. The main attraction of the garden is a huge 4000 square foot greenhouse where no less than 5 different environments are simulated to benefit different species of plants. You'll also have the chance to admire a collection of carnivorous plants and orchids. There are a couple of separate gardens which contain shrubs, small conifers and water plants. You can visit the UNCC Botanical Gardens daily between 10am and 3pm. There is no admission fee but you can always donate in order to help the staff members maintain the gardens.
The Billy Graham Library
If you're religious then you should definitely check out the Billy Graham library. This building is dedicated to the famous Christian evangelist Billy Graham and documents his life and times. Even if you're not passionate about religion, this is still a very interesting place to visit. You'll even get the chance to eat lunch at the Dairy Bar. Outside the library you can admire an impressive collection of well-preserved plants and trees. This experience costs absolutely nothing and everybody is made welcome regardless of faith.

The state of the art IMAX 3D Dome Theatre allows you to live the experience on screen and become immersed in 'larger-than-life' adventures. You also have the chance to lay down on a nail-bed, just like the ones you see when a magician performs a trick on television. Discovery place is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm and on Saturday between 10am and 6pm. Prices are variable due to ever changing exhibits.
